The majority of photos are portraits depicting members of the Hendricks, Glass, and Sawyer families, including William C. Hendricks. Collection also includes portraits of "U.S. Grant," William Keith, Hugh Wiley, and the children of John Muir. Other photos depict a picnic; a group of people playing cards indoors; two girls playing tamborines; a woman with a parasol; family tombs; Butte County (Merrimac Mill, and houses in Cherokee Flat and possibly Morris Ravine); Plumas County ("Plumas House," and landscape); Fort Miller (photo postcards, 1937); McGee's resort at Salmon Creek, Calif., (photomechanical print postcard); Grand Army of the Republic arch on Market St., San Francisco; the arch with banner "The French Residents commemorate a century of liberty"; Grand Hotel, San Francisco; Hawaii in 1900 (man in a field, man in a garden); people on horses in Manila (photo postcards); men near headquarters tent during the Civil War (cabinet card).
